Started in a single workshop bay in Mont Kiara.
Tivoly began in 2013 as a side venture between two friends — one a former service manager, the other a private buyer who had spent ten years picking cars apart at auction. They opened a single bay off Jalan Kiara, started lifting cars before listing them, and refused to take on stock they wouldn’t put a relative in.
The business has grown gently. Today the floor holds eighteen to twenty-four vehicles at a time, the workshop has four bays, and the team is twelve strong. The principles, however, have not been allowed to drift. We list less than we could; we walk away from cars more often than we’d like; and we make a point of being able to explain every figure on every invoice.
Five quiet rules of the house.
Stock we’d drive ourselves
We avoid heavily flooded models, ex-rental fleets and cars with patched accident history. The list of brands we will take is short; the list we will sell is shorter still.
Inspection before listing
Every incoming car spends two hours on the lift before it is photographed. If it needs work, the work is done before any price tag goes on it.
Independent technicians
Our inspectors are paid a flat salary, never a sales commission. That removes the temptation to sign off on a borderline car for a faster handover.
One price, written down
The number on the floor sheet is the number we transact at — OTR with road tax and one year of insurance. There are no admin fees, no “processing,” no surprises at signing.
Paperwork in hand
We complete JPJ ownership transfers, settle outstanding loans with the bank, and clear PUSPAKOM ourselves. You leave with the logbook in your name; we keep the paper trail.
Quiet aftercare
Fourteen days of mechanical assurance, a courtesy 1,500 km service, and a phone number that is answered by a human until 7 PM. Most aftercare is a phone call, not a queue.
Twelve people, one phone line.
The shop is run by Faizal Idris (founder, former service manager) and Jonathan Tham (founder, ex-auction buyer). The workshop is led by Encik Roshan, who has spent thirty-one years on Malaysian engines. Sales is run by Mei Lyn, who refuses to be called “Sales Manager.”
The remaining eight are technicians, valeters, and one very organised office administrator named Kasthuri who has caught more clerical errors than the rest of us combined.
